For the beginner surfer or anyone with kids, La Jolla Shores is an excellent beach to visit. This is because this beach is known for their gentle waves, which makes it safe for families who have young children as well those who are still getting the hang of surfing. La Jolla Shores also offers a mile long beach with soft sand and clear water. Adjacent to the beach is Kellogg Park where this is a playground and a picnic area, which is another reason that La Jolla Shores is a great option for families. At this location, lifeguards are staffed from 9am till dusk year round.

Ocean Beach is a local favorite and you’ll see tourists and locals alike strolling down the famous pier, sunbathing or surfing. This small beach town has a funky, throwback vibe where you can spend your day enjoying one of Southern California’s longest piers or stopping at local micro-brews, checking out our surf shops, or grabbing a bite to eat at nearby taco stands.
