The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights
San Diego is a family-friendly city that offers so many fun events to take part in. From the parks to the museums, there is always something to choose from. With December right around the corner, it is nearly time for the 44th Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights! You won’t want to miss out on this luminescent parade that takes place on the water. Be sure to come out to this special Holiday event. The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights will take place on December 13th and 20th.
Each year, the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights has different themes. This year, the theme will be “Christmas Around the World”. Every year over 70 boats are highly decorated according to the theme of the parade. These boats are strung up with lights making it a glistening celebration. People travel from far and wide to view these amazing floats that dazzle the entire bay. This year, the grand prize of the parade is trip for two with Star Clippers, a fleet that has three of the largest full rigged sailing ships in the world! Another prize for the boat that best encapsulates the theme will be given away.
Each night, the parade will begin at 5:30pm and will start at Shelter Island. From there, the parade will go to Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and finally, the parade will end in Coronado at the Ferry Landing. Throughout, there are many waterfront viewpoints that you can stay at in order to comfortably watch the parade. This year do not miss out on one of the best holiday traditions in San Diego.
