With July 4th just around the corner, it’s time to finalize your Independence Day plans! If you’re not sure what you’ll be doing this summer, no need to worry because San Diego is offering a number of fun events that are great for the whole family. Here are just a few of the July 4th events in San Diego this Independence Day!

If you love fireworks, then San Diego’s Big Bay Boom Is just the event for you. In fact, this is San Diego’s biggest fireworks show for 4th of July! While other places have just one area where fireworks are set off, at Big Bay Boom!, there will be four different barges where fireworks will be launched from! The firework show will begin at 9pm though it is recommended that you get there early to secure your spot. This event is FREE, all you have to do is bring your lawn chairs, family and friends and enjoy the show. For more information, visit www.bigbayboom.com

If you are going to be by Ocean Beach, head over to the pier and enjoy the FREE firework show. The fireworks will go off starting at 9pm but make this event an exciting all day event. Head to the ocean early, spend the day swimming, bring a picnic lunch and when the sun finally sets, get ready for the fireworks!

This year, the County Fair will also be hosting a 4th of July event. Not only will there be fireworks at the end of the night, there will also be fun events throughout the day. The day will kick off at 9:30am with an opening ceremony at O’Brien Gate and the gates to the fair will open at 10am. Some of the events that you can enjoy throughout the day include a floral design contest at 10:30am, a pie eating contest at 12pm, and a most patriotic costume contest at 1pm among many others. There will be a special musical performance at 7:30pm and the fireworks will begin at 9pm. For more information on this event, head over to the official county fair website at www.sdfair.com.
